Aspects of Violence and its Repercussions on Children and Social Vulnerable Groups in Contemporary Societies

Two-Day Conference
Homerion Cultural Center, Chios, Greece
June 9 & 10, 2017

The Chios Association of People with Disabilities, in celebration of its 20 years of presence and action, is organizing in co-operation with the Association of Greek Psychologists and the University of Ioannina – Department of Early Childhood Education, an International two-day conference on the subject of Aspects of Violence and its Repercussions on Children and Social Vulnerable Groups in Contemporary Societies

The phenomenon of violence, especially when victims are children and people from vulnerable social groups (people with disabilities, refugees e.t.c.), is growing in contemporary societies, even in small towns, outside urban centers. We organize this conference as entities that aim to support people from such social groups. We have invited special scientists and counselors from Greece and all over the world to participate and give presentations during this event.

Through presentations of research and data, in local and national level, through transfer of experiences but, also, presentations of programmes of intervention, we aim to outline the present situation, to highlight matters of interest of vulnerable social groups and to reach useful conclusions, as well as suggest policy actions. The Conference will take place on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 of June 2017, at the Homerion Cultural Center of the Municipality of Chios.

The Conference is under the auspices of the Ministries of Health and Education.
